This is just a very quick post to clarify our official pages on a few social sites. But first a quick explanation, we are a voluntary group and so have members come and go, our members all have ideas about how to interact with other groups and the public which is great but what can happen is sites get set up, then the member who set it up and has the password leaves and unfortunately we no longer have access. As current administrator (I have been for a few years) I have tried to streamline and unify the sites and usernames you can get us on. We only have one official account on Flickr, Facebook and Twitter anything else is not us.
The Facebook and Twitter pages are currently just place holders with not a great deal of content, we will try to become more social so please bare with us…
As you can probably tell we are now back online (Hurrah!) sorry for the downtime but it was necessary, we are now a UK hosted site so hopefully there should be a little bit of a speed increase assuming you are in the UK which most of you seem to be.
As part of the server move we have also had a mini re-design not a lot has changed but we think its a little bit cleaner and easier to find things now… not that is wasn’t before of course!
Those astute visitors will have noticed we are missing a few options, namely photos and the long promised videos, well good news, these are coming we just need to find the best way of either linking or embedding the content so stay tuned it will be up soon!
We have been somewhat remiss about keeping our website up to date, probably because we are always busy dancing and playing?
We are going to make a big effort to keep you all informed about where and when we are performing and how fantastic we are (goes without saying really!)
Briefly we started the year off with our Plough Monday meal at The Black Horse, Endon. Couple of dances (enough for anyone!) then time to eat drink and be merry.
February saw us dancing before the performance of The Demon Barbers in The Lock Inn at The Clonter Theatre just outside Congleton – freezing cold night but fantastic performance from a number of Morris sides and of course the amazing and massively talented cast. If you get chance go to see the show.
Locally we danced at a home for the elderly, probably more rewarding for us really, than residents, although a few joined in (they did have their own sticks) and we have been practising on Thursday nights at Tunstall Methodist Church and Centre 7pm-9pm.
Our Molly Band have been making a name for themselves and getting chance to play tunes that we don’t dance to! They are a very talented group of musicians and recently played at Penkhull Folk Festival, where they treated all present to a variety of tunes, songs and amazing instrumental solos.
We will update the calendar soon….
But in the meantime, dance out dates coming up are 4th May at Rode Hall Farmers Market, 11th May for Leek Day of Dance, weekend of 18th May Moira Canal Festival and weekend of 31st May at Uttoxeter Acoustic Festival www.acousticfestival.co.uk
So that’s got everyone up to date and us wondering how we manage to fit everything in! We are most definitely Alive and Dancing!!
Hello everyone, yes we are back… not finished, but back!
First a quick explanation as to what happened, basically to cut a long story short, the whole site got deleted! Thankfully I had been taking regular backups so nothing was actually lost, however I figured it may be a good time to revamp the site so the site has had a total overhaul which obviously take a little longer than a quick restore from a backup.
You may be thinking “why on earth do that, just get it working again!” well I decided to do it this way because a lot of the plug-ins and theme we are using were becoming obsolete and not maintained leading to all sorts of potential issues. It may look the same but the underlying technology powering it is all new.
As you can probably tell the site isn’t completely finished yet this will happen shortly and soon everything will be up and running and hopefully even with a few extra features… so watch this space!
